Nathan Bayreuther
Nathan J. Bayreuther began his professional career at age 13 as a substitute organist at the First Congregational Church in New London, Connecticut. Eventually hired as the Director of Music in 1999, he instituted an annual Lenten Organ Concert Series and also a music series of professional ensembles in 2002. He became the Director of Music Ministry at the First Congregational Church in Madison in 2005. Teachers have included Dr. Judith Mack and Czech organist and composer Godfrey Tomanek.
Chosen as the “director of choice” for city-wide interfaith services by the New London Clergy Association. Nathan has received numerous awards and scholarships including the Roberta Bitgood Scholarship in 1994 and 1995 and the Colleague Certification by the American Guild of Organists in 2004. He has served on the Executive Boards of the New London and New Haven County Chapters of the AGO and has acted as an organ scholarship adjudicator. He performs concerts across the region and is scheduled to perform a solo organ recital at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City. He also serves as the organist for the New England Chamber Choir and Orchestra based in Cromwell, Connectivut and has led the Nathan Bayreuther Jazz Trio since 1998. He lives with his wife and son in Wallingford and can frequently be found sailing the waters of the Long Island Sound in his spare time.
